Multicultural Ambassadors work to raise awareness during Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week, November 9-18, 2012.
Kirsten and Aaron, two of our amazing Multicultural Ambassadors, share facts about hunger and homelessness in our communities and helpful information with passers-by. Donations of food and funds were accepted throughout the week. All of the food goes to a local soup kitchen to help out the Stephenville-area. The funds go to the Red Cross to help with shelter needs for victims of Super Storm Sandy.
Students participate in the Night Out event - sleeping outside and braving the wind and weather - to kick off Hunger & Homeless Awareness Week, November 9, 2012.
After a windy evening worrying about food and shelter items to block the wind, students considered what they would do without a home. Students crafted signs and held a discussion about privilege as Dr. and Mrs. Dottavio visited. Over the evening, students had discussions about food and shelter insecurities while exploring a night out in the elements. See more about this event from the perspective of our student bloggers.
