Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Academic Affairs Division at Tarleton State University is to ensure the university’s academic standing as a comprehensive, fully accredited public university with outstanding  academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including a  limited number of doctoral programs.  Emphasis is placed throughout the  Division on building and sustaining a culture of excellence for our  students characterized by faculty excellence in teaching, scholarship,  creative activity and service with teaching foremost among these.   Tarleton’s culture of excellence for students emphasizes the importance  of academic standards, high expectations, and active student engagement  in and responsibility for learning within a highly personalized and  supportive university experience.   The Division’s commitment to this  mission is intended to assure that Tarleton graduates acquire the  knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for personal fulfillment,  successful careers and responsible citizenship in an increasingly  diverse and global society.
