Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center
The Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center is delighted to welcome artist Stacey Watkins and her one woman show, "Called into the Light", to Granbury after a month on the campus of Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
Stacey may be best known for her works in resin which seem to take on a life of their own when layered and shaped. One fun feature of these works is that layers of the piece glow when exposed to ultraviolet light and add a new depth to the intricate pieces.
The shapes and sizes of these works vary across the spectrum and can resemble human forms, lifelike shapes and even musical instruments.
Stacey is also proficient in brush work, plasma cut metals and glass etching. Her works can be viewed at galleries in New Mexico as well as at Your Private Collection Art Gallery, a gallery and storefront in downtown Granbury that specializes in one of a kind works and gifts from a wide range of local and regional artists.
Both Stacey and Your Private Collection are active in the local arts community through their involvement in the Galleries of Granbury, a partnership between downtown galleries to increase awareness of the arts in Granbury. Their main event is a monthly art walk on the last Saturday of each month involving the galleries, musicians and working artists.
“I like for people to be able to look at my art and see something that may strike a spark in their imagination and give them a feeling of the Lord’s presents", says Watkins."Even though they may know the meaning of one of my pieces, I want them to start to create their own stories more personal to themselves with my artwork. By doing this my audience can open doors into their imaginations and let their creativity take them on endless journeys.”
