Students Present Research at Regional Honors Conference
Seven students were invited to presented their research during the Theodore Clevender, Jr. Undergraduate Honors Conference at the Southern States Communication Association Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas held from March 24-26, 2011.
Melissa MacDonald, Kylee Thetford, Nicole Shueneman presented their research on college students’ perceptions of fitness and body type in interpersonal relationships.
Stacy Coggins presented her research on college students’ perceptions of their undergraduate peers with sexual transmitted infection. Chale Moreno, Raul Carrillo, and Winston Dawson presented their research on college students’ perceptions of interracial relationships.
As part of a university grant (Real World Experiences Applied to Learning), the students worked together in Dr. Jennifer T. Edwards’s upper-level communication courses to develop scholarly research papers focused on diversity and communication.
The Office of Student Research and Creative Activities, the Council for Undergraduate Research provided funds for the students’ travel to the conference.
The Communication Studies Department at Tarleton State University offers degrees in Journalism and Broadcasting, Public Relations and Event Management, and Speech Communication.
