What is engineering and what types of engineering are there?

Engineers are problem solvers.  They put together the concepts from math, science, and many other areas to find new and creative ways to meet today's challenges.  

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) hosts a variety of resources related to engineering on the ASEE Engineering K12 Center website. This includes the Engineering Alphabet, an overview of engineering disciplines.

What engineering degrees can I get at Tarleton and are they ABET accredited?

Tarleton offers two engineering degrees:

  1. Engineering Physics (ENPH), and
  2. Environmental Engineering (ENVE)
How do I know if I am math ready?
Math readiness is determined by math placement exams for incoming freshmen and by previous credit for transfer students.  See the math placement policy or contact the Department of Mathematics for details.
