### Learning Objectives

The following list of learning objectives is provided to the student as a study aide to highlight some of the most important concepts in this part of the course. It is not intended to be exhaustive and will not limit the type of questions that your instructor may ask on an exam. It is also not intended to replace the student's own need to think about the material and to organize the material internally.

**A student who successfully completes this module will:**

- be able to state the definitions of position, displacement, average velocity, velocity, average acceleration, and acceleration and apply them to solve motion problems.
- be able to interpret a position-time graph to solve motion problems including being able to determine if an object is accelerating and to obtain position, displacement, average velocity, and velocity.
- be able to interpret a velocity-time graph to solve motion problems including determining if an object is accelerating and to obtain displacement, velocity, average velocity, average acceleration, and acceleration.
- be able to interpret an acceleration-time graph to solve motion problems including determining if a body is accelerating and to obtain acceleration, change in velocity, and average acceleration.
- be able to state when the kinematic equation are valid including drawing the required position-time, velocity-time, and acceleration-time graphs.
- be able to write the kinematic equation from memory and be able to derive them from their motion graphs.
- be able to state what is meant by a free falling body and solve free fall problems using the kinematic equations and with their motion graphs.
