Learning Objectives

The following list of learning objectives is provided to the student as a study aide to highlight some of the most important concepts in this part of the course. It is not intended to be exhaustive and will not limit the type of questions that your instructor may ask on an exam. It is also not intended to replace the student's own need to think about the material and to organize the material internally.

A student who successfully completes this module will:

  1. be able to to find the other two sides of a right triangle if given the hypotenuse and an adjacent angle.
  2. be able to find the hypotenuse and the two unknown angles of a right triangle if given the other two sides.
  3. be able to convert an angle from degrees to radians
  4. be able to convert an angle from radians to degrees
  5. be able to draw a unit circle and apply it to find various trigonometric identities
  6. be able to define the trigonometric function: Sine, Cosine, and Tangent
  7. be able to write a complex number in both standard and Euler form
  8. be able to find the magnitude of a complex number
  9. be able to add, multiply, and divide complex numbers
  10. be able to write the Sine, Cosine, and Exponential function as infinite series
  11. be able to use the binomial expansion to approximate mathematical expressions for small values
