Constitution of the Tarleton Cricket Club

(Special Interest Club)

 

Article I

Name and purpose

Section 1

The name of the organization shall be:Tarleton Cricket Club.

Section 2

The nature of the Tarleton Cricket Club is to promote and encourage involvement and participation in recreational and social activities and events related to cricket.

Section 3

The purpose of the Tarleton Cricket Club is to promote an appreciation for cricket among students, faculty, and staff; to promote the sport of Cricket among Tarleton State University and its surrounding community.

Article II

Membership

Section 1

Any student of this university is eligible for the Tarleton Cricket Club.

Section 2

A member in good standing is one who maintains a grade point average of 2.00 and is actively participating in the organization’s affairs.

Section 3

Players for the team will be selected through tryouts and invitation and will be selected by the President and Vice President and an advisory committee.

Section 4

Being a competitive team, only a set number of players can be on the playing roster at any given time, however, members can still be a part of the cricket club and attend practices but will not have the option to play during that given season unless seen fit by playing team.

Section 5

Members and players can be removed from the organization if seen fit by the team by a majority vote at a meeting. An active player on the roster of the actual competitive team can be removed through majority vote or as seen fit by the executive board after the conclusion of the season.

Article III

Officers

Section 1

The officers of this organization shall be: President and Vice President. Other officers and assistants may be provided as needed.

Section 2

The officer’s duties shall be detailed in the organizational structure.

Section 3

The offices of the President and the Vice President will be elected every fall or if they step down from office before that period, or no longer in the best interest of the group.

Section 4

Officers are elected by majority vote of the playing team and all of the members. However, if one does not wish to become an officer any member wishing to may take over responsibilities if there are no objections from anyone on the team.

Section 5

Officers may be removed if seen fit by the playing team. The officer may be voted out of office at a team meeting only if all members are present and there is a 3/4 – majority voting.

Article IV 

Finances and Dues

Section 1

The Tarleton Cricket Club, through the legislation of its members, shall access and collect from it’s members such fees, dues, and assessments, as it shall see fit for its operation.

Section 2

Dues shall be set at one of the first meetings during fall and spring semesters. The amount shall cover the economical need of the Tarleton Cricket Club.

Article V

Meetings

Section 1

The regular meetings of the organization shall be held bi-monthly. An executive meeting consisting of the advisor and officers of the organization will be held as needed based on the needs of the Tarleton Cricket Club. Time, place and dates may be varied to suit prevailing circumstances.

Section 2

A financial report shall be read by the treasurer at the beginning of each meeting.

Section 3

Meetings may be held at practices of the Tarleton Cricket Club to address the need of the club.

Section 4

Meetings and businesses shall be governed by accepted parliamentary procedure.

Article VI

Amendments

Section 1

Amendments may be proposed by any member for a vote at a meeting providing an amendment is submitted in writing to all active members at least one week before general meetings.

Section 2

Amendments to the constitution of this organization shall be made only at the regular meeting by 2/3 vote of the members present.

Article VII

Organizational Structure 

Section 1

President

The duties of the President are as follows:

  1. Preside over business meetings.
  2. Preside over the executive meetings.
  3. Call special meeting if necessary.
  4. Be an official representative of the Tarleton Cricket Club.

Section 2

Vice President

The duties of the Vice President are as follows:

  1. Shall preside in the absence of the president.
  2. Shall attend all events of the Tarleton Cricket Club.
  3. Shall chair the special committee.

Section 3

Advisor

  1. The organization shall select an advisor.
  2. The advisor must be a full-time faculty/staff at Tarleton State University.
