What repairs they undertake

the shrouded tailors

with their needles

to bind us to the night!

As though, we pleaded, “From the sea retrieve

us, draw us to the shore—from the water’s

cool caress and welcome weight,”

they stitch souls into bodies

and knot old threads anew.
