Here is Chance's story:
"My name is Chance Cerda and I am a junior, Business Management major. Just recently, I accepted an offer for the Summer Outside Sales Internship position with Reynolds and Reynolds, an Automotive Dealership Retail Management company. As an intern, I will spend my summer at Reynolds’ headquarters in Dayton, OH where I will have extensive sales training, work with the Inside Sales Team as well as travel for three weeks of the summer with a full time Field Sales Rep. Not only will this be a great experience, but the internship is a paid position and the company also covers all housing and travel expenses.
My first interaction with Reynolds was at the Job Fair hosted by Career Services on October 8, 2013. Before visiting the career fair the wonderful Alan Hefner gave my existing resume some critiquing. The hiring process for the internship took just over two months and included an application, phone interview, a Skype interview, an aptitude test, and a long form application. During this two month span Career Services was very helpful. Notably, the ‘Student Resources’ page helped me when preparing for my two interviews! The resources and tips that I learned from this section along with the mock interviews I have previously had with Career Services gave me great confidence during the interviews with Reynolds. I also feel that my experiences as an on-campus leader gave me a great advantage in the application process. Because of my involvement with different student organizations and leadership positions, I was able to give real life examples that proved I had the qualities that Reynolds was seeking in a candidate. One very important thing to remember when looking for an internship is START EARLY! I started actively looking for internships by October and still had some trouble with deadlines approaching too quickly. Also, identify a few aspects of your internship that are top priority. For me, it was of the utmost importance that I could have an out of state experience and that I would be able to work in an area that I have little experience in. There are so many internships out there that if you don’t have a few aspects of the experience identified as a priority it may be hard to know where to start!
I am truly excited about my summer working as an intern for Reynolds and know that without the assistance and resources that Career Services has to offer that I would not have this amazing opportunity!"
We encourage you to come to Career Services today to see how we can help YOU become the next success story!
