Video Production Manager

The video production manager will be responsible for coordinating all production for high-quality videos to be used on websites, social media, or as part of campus-wide presentations. The person in this position will work closely with the Student Affairs Marketing Coordinator to conceptualize and execute video productions as well as organize and archive videos for historical purposes.  Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University.

General Requirements
  • Meets established deadlines.
  • Maintains regular office hours.
  • Assumes all responsibilities for the functioning of the video productions unit.
  • Manages a limited budget that includes equipment and payroll.
  • Establishes policy.
  • Meets regularly with the video production and creative services staffs.
  • Determines the duties for contributing and hourly staff within the video production unit and supervises their performance of assigned duties.
  • Bears final responsibility for all content produced.
  • Responsible for ensuring all content is accurate and true. This may include copy editing and fact checking.
  • Responsible for all recruitment efforts for new staff, both hourly and contributing.
  • Approves payroll with the business manager and/or adviser.
  • Appoints one video production assistant on a semesterly basis.
  • Coordinates all planning, storyboarding, scripting, casting and editing efforts.
  • Maintains positive relationships with clients who request video projects.
  • Works in collaboration with the JTAC News editorial board to produce regular online video features for jtacnews.com.
  • Ensures that all project files are properly archived and easily accessible. 
  • Initiates disciplinary action according to established procedures when the manager becomes dissatisfied with the performance of a staff member. Also meditates disputes when needed.
  • Completes requirements associated with an Applied Learning Experience in Leadership.
Skills

The desired candidate should possess strong management skills, be self-motivated and require little to no supervision on managing projects.  The person should be proficient in Adobe programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier, Final cut, etc. The completion of at least one (1) college-level digital media, video production, or similar course is a plus. The candidate should also possess strong and effective oral and written communication skills and be able to work well with others in a very collaborative environment.

Contributor positions will begin in the fall 2017 term.

The Department of Student Publications is seeking paid contributors to assist in the development of student-driven publications and projects. Videographers are paid per submission. Basic skills should include the ability to produce well researched, well written pieces on various subjects, including features, organizations, news, traditions, events, sports, etc.

General Requirements:
  • Supporting and adhering to Student Publications guidelines, policies and mission;
  • Completing assignments by or before the submission deadline;
  • Making any edits or suggested changes within a specified time frame;
  • Working to ensure submissions are of highest possible quality.

Photographer

Contributor positions will begin in the fall 2017 term.

The Department of Student Publications is seeking paid contributors to assist in the development of student-driven publications and projects. Photographers are paid per submission. Basic skills should include the ability to artistically conceptualize and execute high quality photos. Must also be able to select best photos and edit using Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop.

  • Working to ensure submissions are of highest possible quality.
