Contributor, JTAC News

The Department of Student Publications and JTAC News are seeking paid contributors to assist in the development of both print and online publications for the student-run news organization. Contributor positions include writers, photographers, page/graphic designers, etc. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for the person(s) in this position.

General job duties include (but not limited to):

  • Supporting and adhering to JTAC News guidelines, policies and direction;
  • Completing assignments by or before the submission deadline;
  • Making any edits or suggested changes within a specified time frame;
  • Working to ensure submissions are of highest possible quality.

Desired candidates are expected to be proficient in their skilled area and should require little to no training. Basic skill sets should include:

Writers Ability to produce well researched, well written pieces on various subjects, including features, organizations, news, traditions, events, sports, etc.
Photographers Ability to artistically conceptualize and execute high quality photos. Must also be able to select best photos and edit using Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop.
Page/Graphic Designers Ability to creatively develop page designs or graphical elements while maintaining adherence to the newspaper’s theme and vision. Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud programs.
Cartoonist Ability to draw freehanded or computer-aided comics and/or editorial cartoons that are entertaining and relevant to the Tarleton culture.

Contributor, Grassburr

The Department of Student Publications and the Grassburr are seeking paid contributors to assist in the creation of the yearbook. Contributor positions include writers, photographers, page/graphic designers, etc. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for the person(s) in this position.

General job duties include (but not limited to):

  • Supporting and adhering to Grassburr guidelines, policies and direction;
  • Completing assignments by or before the submission deadline;
  • Making any edits or suggested changes within a specified time frame;
  • Working to ensure submissions are of highest possible quality.

Desired candidates are expected to be proficient in their skilled area and should require little to no training. Basic skill sets should include:

Contributor, Creative Services

The Department of Student Publications is seeking paid contributors to assist in the development of marketing materials for the Division of Student Life. Contributor positions include graphic designers and videographers. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for the person(s) in this position.

General job duties include (but not limited to):

  • Supporting and adhering to Student Publications guidelines, policies and direction;
  • Completing assignments by or before the submission deadline;
  • Making any edits or suggested changes within a specified time frame;
  • Working to ensure submissions are of highest possible quality.

Desired candidates are expected to be proficient in their skilled area and should require little to no training. Basic skill sets should include:

Graphic Designers Ability to work cross-departmentally within the Division of Student Life to create marketing materials such as print publications, social media, logos, advertisements, etc., based on a client’s need and/or vision.
Videographers Ability to artistically conceptualize and execute high quality videos. Must also be able to work with a wide range of clients, ensuring that their vision comes to life through video. Knowledge of programs such as Adobe Premier, After Effects, etc., is very beneficial.
