Advised Admission

Some students who do not meet regular admission standards may be granted advised admission to the University through one of the Texan Gateway Programs. Admission to these programs is selective and determined by an Appeals Committee in Enrollment Management.  The standards for advised admission are subject to change and questions regarding those standards should be directed to Undergraduate Admissions, 254-968-9125.

The Texan Gateway Program is a Summer Bridge Program that participants must attend during the 2nd 6 week summer session from June 22 - August 4, 2016.  After admission, students will attend the mandatory Information Session scheduled for April 16, 2016 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center, Room 15 where they will be advised and enrolled in their Summer classes.  Students will be required to enroll in the appropriate MATH class and the UNIV 1201 - Learning Frameworks II class and will attend a mandatory study lab for their MATH class.  Students must receive a "C" or better in all classes and be in "Academic Good Standing" to be eligible to continue to Fall 2016 enrollment.

The Texan Gateway II program is an agreement for the 2016-2017 academic year.  After admission, students will need to attend a Texan Orientation Session to get advised and enrolled in their Fall 2016 classes.  Students will be required to enroll in no less than 12 and no more than 14 hours to include the appropriate MATH and ENGLISH class as well at UNIV 1201 Learning Frameworks II for Fall 2016 and UNIV 1102 for Spring 2016.   Students must receive a "C" or better in all classes and be in "Academic Good Standing" to be eligible for continued enrollment.  Any student whose academic standing is "Suspension" will be terminated from the Texas Gateway II program.
