A DEMON’S PRICE

Travis Head

Utterance is but honey dripping from my fingertips;
The extracts of this soul, tearing at a barrier of flesh.

On occasion, I find him in the darkest of corners.
I drag him by the hair....kicking, biting, screaming....
Down the long hall, through the corridor.
I blind and burn him with sharp rays,
Rob him of all possessions,
Beat him until he promises forgiveness....
Then leave him to find his own way.

Death to the albatross,
Death to the sailor.
We all have a tasteful tendency toward self-destruction.
So we probe like malign doctors,
The fascination of disease feeds.
