Orphan Child

Bonnie Harding

Webs of memories tangle around the edges
So much mist, can’t see very clear.
Past and present mired in the future
Visions just holding from grasp
Dangling on the edge—
Infinity’s dark laugh
Show me! Let me see!
Its mine to hold, to make appear.
Destiny
That orphan child
Sought after, prayed for
Elusive in its iniquity.
Glimpses given
As hoarded money miserly doled out.
Show me! Shout it out!
But to no avail.
Patiently must I stay, silently must I seek.
Sludging through the webs
The mire, the mist
To wait upon the orphan child
Fulfilling the vision
Of my prophetic quest—
Destiny
