Alone

Mathew Swanner

Alone, oh GOD so alone
Sharing the sorrow
The splendor of solitude
We two, isolated in innocence
Asleep in the abyss of silence
Passing the moments of pleasure
So imperceptible it hurts.
Forever forsaken to the world's whims.
Lost in forlorn hope
Prayers wasted on an angel, deaf
Destruction measured in the flow of life
Each beat, each drum, wasted in the empty forest
Of fallen minds...

Do you know how it feels, on bruised knees?
Carpet burns from temple floors
Priests worse than Babylonian whores
Look to a sky void of hope
Desolate splendor, at the end of a rope
Wax drips to the flow as well...
All things join in the symphony of hell
Faith shattered like the halo on the child's head
Two posts three nails…
A false hope everyone hails.
