How do I contact Business Services?

You may contact the Business Services office in Stephenville by phone at (254) 968-9107 or (254) 968-9607.  You may also visit us in person in the Administration Building located at 1333 W. Washington.  Please keep in mind that due to privacy laws, limited information will be given to individuals other than the student.

Who decides how much to charge for tuition and fees?

Tuition and fees are governed by State Law and the Board of Regents.

Can I pay with a credit card?

Yes, Tarleton accepts MasterCard, Visa and Discover.  You can use your credit card to pay online through myGateway.  You may also pay by credit card in person at the Cashier’s Office or by phone. 

When will I get a bill?

Effective Spring 2009, the eBill will become the official method of notification of student billing for Tarleton State University. Paper bills will no longer be mailed by the University. Login to myGateway to access Duck Trax and click on Texan Bill Pay to view your Student Account.

Can I use a non-Tarleton email address?

We recommend that you use your Tarleton issued email address as your preferred email address in DuckTrax, since this is the address used by the University to correspond and send important notifications.  

What are the payment deadlines?

Please consult the Payment Options and Dates page for further information about payment deadlines.

Payment must be made by the payment deadline or your registration schedule may be canceled. If your registration schedule is canceled due to non-payment, a $100 reinstatement fee will be charged to re-enroll.

Who is Higher One?

Why am I getting a Higher One Card?
Because you will use the card to select how you want to receive your refund money.  Once you have your card, simply view your choices and make your selection at TarletonChoiceCard.com to let Tarleton know how you would like to receive your refund.
How will I get a Tarleton Choice Card?
You will receive your Tarleton Choice Card in the mail at your mailing address on file with Tarleton.  Just look for the bright green envelope and please make sure your address is up to date.
What are my options for receiving your refund?
  • Same business day deposit to Higher One checking account.  Money deposited to the account the same business day funds released by Tarleton State to Higher One.
  • Deposit to another your current banking account.  Money in two to three business days.
  • Paper Check.   Money in five to seven business days
What if I do not make a choice to receive a refund?
Although you might not currently expect money in the form of a refund from Tarleton, you may receive money back in the future.  After all, you might drop a class, make an overpayment or simply receive assistance you did not expect.  Making a selection now ensures you will always have this money without delay.
What type of funds might I receive from Tarleton?
The most common type of money Higher One disburses to students are funds left over from Financial Aid awards, loans or grants after Tuition and Fees have been paid.  Students receiving these funds have usually requested this additional support to help with books and living expenses.  Other types of money include reimbursement for tuition overpayment or a dropped class.
Why is the MasterCard Logo on my Higher One Card?
If you choose to open a Higher One checking account, the Tarleton Choice Card can be used to make purchases wherever Debit MasterCard is accepted.  It is important to note that the Tarleton Choice Card in NOT A CREDIT CARD, but rather a DEBIT CARD backed by the purchasing power of the MasterCard network.
Can I change my preference for receiving money from Tarleton?
Yes.  Just log into your account and select "Refund Preference" from the "Refund" menu option.  Once on the page, simply make your new selection and click "Update Preferences" button to complete the process.  Be aware that your new selection will only impact future money you will receive from Tarleton.
How will I know when my money has been sent?
Higher One will send you an email to the email address that you entered during setup of the account.  You can also view the status online at TarletonChoiceCard.com or sign up to receive text messages sent directly to your cell phone with convenient Mobile Alerts.
