Sunday Afternoon Programs

The W.K. Gordon Center hosts free programs featuring guest speakers and authors once a month on Sunday afternoons. Programs cover a variety of topics relating to Texas industrial history, Thurber and local industries. Past events have included programs by Veldhuizen Cheese Company, author Dr. Gene Tucker's book "Oysters, Macaroni & Beer", Dino-Club beekeepers, wine tastings and many more! Join the Gordon Center in celebrating Oktoberfest with a program and beer tasting with our guests from Granbury, Texas' own Revolver Brewing! Night Out at the Opera House

From the 1920's to the 1930's, Thurber's famous Opera House showed silent and black & white films. The Night Out at the Opera House is a free public program that features films shown during this time period. Films are shown in the W.K. Gordon's recreated Opera House located inside the museum. Past movies have included the 1933 Dracula, 1920 The Sheik, 1933 Alice in Wonderland and more! Please check the calendar and news feed for future program dates!

Discover the terrifying secrets that lurk in a New York wax museum at our October screening of the 1933 classic thriller, Mystery of the Wax Museum. The movie starts at 6:30pm on Saturday, October 10, with an intermission featuring free, themed snacks. Special Events

Join the Gordon Center for a Labor Day celebration on Saturday, September 5, from 6:00-7:30p.m. Bring your own picnic to the museum grounds for an evening of fun, games, and live music by our return guest, Nick Ballarini! This is a free event and no reservations are required so bring out the kids and family for this end of summer celebration!
