Rio Brazos Art Exhibition
The Annual Juried Rio Brazos Art Exhibition opens at 3 p.m. on April 13th, 2014 at the Dora Lee Langdon Cultural & Educational Center Concert Hall in Granbury, Texas. The exhibition is sponsored by Tarleton State University, the Granbury Arts Alliance, the City of Granbury and supported by numerous local and regional businesses. The coordinators of this event plan to create an atmosphere that will inspire, educate and entertain as well as attract quality art and discriminating buyers.
Juror Wes Miller has owned and operated Farmers & Merchants Gallery on the square in downtown Pilot Point, Texas since 1975. He has represented and sold the works of many regional artists, as well as his own artwork. He is also a member of several regional arts organization. Mr. Miller is a graduate of North Texas State University with a BA in Commercial Art.
The Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center is nestled one block off Granbury’s historic square in the Brazos River Valley and serves as a focal point for the fine arts in the Lake Granbury area. The Langdon Center serves as the cultural and educational hub of the downtown area in cooperation with the City of Granbury and Tarleton State University.
The Granbury Arts Alliance (GAA), a non-profit fine arts organization, is the major sponsor of the Rio Brazos Art Exhibition. The goal of the GAA is to enrich and enhance the artistic environment of Granbury and make cultural activities accessible to all citizens. The GAA exists to unite all of the artistic groups of Granbury under one umbrella to share resources and experience, increase awareness of the arts and support one another.
Accepted artwork will be selected at the discretion of the juror. Works are grouped according to the type of media received. Over $5,000 in cash and merchandise awards are anticipated. The Rio Brazos Art Exhibition Best of Show will receive a $1,000 cash award. Four $500 cash awards will be awarded, along with ten $100 cash awards.
