Philosophy Subcategories


American Philosophical Association - is the main professional organization for philosophers in the United States. Founded in 1900, its mission is to promote the exchange of ideas among philosophers, to encourage creative and scholarly activity in philosophy, to facilitate the professional work and teaching of philosophers, and to represent philosophy as a discipline.

Continental Philosophy - includes links to different schools of continental philosophy.

The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy - This resource based at the University of Tennessee at Martin, is organized into a timeline of philosophy, with links where available, a Philosophy Text Collection, or access information by searching with keywords. Documents include Descartes' Discourse on the Method, Kant's Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics, Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching and more.

North Texas Philosophical Association - The North Texas Philosophical Association was established in the 1970s to promote philosophical dialogue and inquiry and to support and enhance the teaching of philosophy in the colleges and universities of north Texas and the surrounding areas.

Philosophy around the Web - This award winning site is based at Oxford University, UK, and has a nearly exhaustive collection of philosophy related topics.

Philosophy Associations and Societies - from the American Philosophical Association.

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy - Maintained at Stanford University, this site has an editorial board from Universities around the world. This site is still under construction, but the topics that are currently covered, such as category theory and pantheism, have impressive in-depth information.

Ethics Updates - Based at the University of San Diego, this searchable site is everything ethics, from Kant and Aristotle, to Animal Rights and World Hunger.
