Board of Regents Meeting Update
Dear Faculty and Staff:
In an effort to keep you up to date on actions taken by The Texas A&M System Board of Regents that pertain to Tarleton, here is a recap of the meeting that concluded today.
I am pleased to report that Dr. Joe W. Gillespie has been named a Regents Professor for exemplary service to The Texas A&M University System. Dr. Gillespie came to Tarleton in 1973 as head track coach and assistant football coach, and since his arrival on campus he has served as chair of the Department of Health and Physical Education, athletics director and dean of education.
In recognition of their long and distinguished service to The Texas A&M University System, the Board of Regents granted emeritus status to three Tarleton professors.
Among those faculty members receiving emeritus status are: Dr. Boyd Collier, with 29 years at Tarleton, who was given the title of Professor Emeritus of economics; Dr. Pam Littleton, with 22 years of service, was named Professor Emeritus of mathematics; and Dr. Rueben Walter, with 35 years of service, was granted the title of Dean Emeritus of the College of Science and Technology.
Congratulations to each of the honorees listed above. As usual, Tarleton was well represented among the System and continues to grow and thrive because of dedicated faculty and staff working diligently to strive for student success.
