Being a college student is no easy task. Balancing academics, a social life, and, for many, a job can be overwhelming. Fortunately, Tarleton State offers a range of resources to help students thrive academically, ensuring they succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Supplemental Instruction (SI)
- A free program consisting of peer assisted study sessions
- Students get to interact with fellow students, discuss content, better understand the material,
- Time to study and re-enforce material learned in class, not a re-lecture
- Session are ran by trained students who have succeded in the course before (received an A or higher)
- SI leaders re-attend the classes, take notes, and know the professors expectations
- SI leaders receive training both before and during the semester to make sure they are meeting expectations
- SI leaders have their own websites dedicated to the courses they help with. Each site has course content, updates, and some zoom session recordings

Tutoring
- 1-3 people per session
- Sessions are one hour long
- Take place at the library or online
- By appointment only
- Tuors clarify concepts that have already been taught in class
- Help you understand material and how to best access information
- Provide tips and resources for studying

Writing, Speaking, and Math Centers
- The writing center is a free service found on the second floor of O.A. Grant Humanities. They help students at any stage of the writing process. From developing ideas to correcting your final version. They can also help with APA format, MLA, etc. For hours of operation or to make an appointment click here.
- Also located on the second floor of O.A. Grant Humanities, the speaking center will help students with all sorts of speeches. Not only will you get one on one practice with a tutor but they also help with outlining, conquering speech anxiety, and more. - The Math Achievement Center is located in Room 203 in the Mathematics Building. Graduate and undergraduate students with a strong mathematics background are in this room to help you. They can help with homework questions, studying, or anything else math related. They also provide computers for students to sit and do their online math homework. Testing Services
- Tarleton testing center can administer over 4,600 different tests including certification exams (e.g., Teacher’s Certification), placement exams (e.g., TSI, Language Placement Exams), and disability-related accommodated exams.
- They also administer non-accommodated make-up exams during specific days/times of the week.

Computers, Laptops, and Printers
- There are over 200 public desktop computers available for use in the Dick Smith Library. You can reserve a spot online here or just walk in and ask the front desk for availability
- The library has 36 laptops available to rent for four hour periods, late fees will incur

- Collaboration Tables and Rooms are first come first served and located on the main and lower levels of the library, they have on board computers to connect to your device
- The Dick Smith Library also has free printers for students to use. They are located on the first and second floor of the library.
