Q: Can you tell us about the new Master’s in Construction Science & Management program?

A: This Master’s program is designed to equip students with key skills that are currently lacking in the industry, particularly technological expertise for managing construction projects from conception to maintenance. We’re focusing on preparing students for modern construction challenges.

Q: What would you tell someone who is considering a Master’s in Construction Science & Management?

A: Our program offers flexibility, with online options available to accommodate working professionals. It’s a great opportunity for those seeking career advancement. Not only does it provide the credentials needed for higher-level promotions, but it also offers a direct connection to the construction industry through our advisory board, providing valuable hands-on experience.

Q: Can you tell us a little about the job market?

A: The job market is very promising. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the construction sector is projected to grow by 8% between 2021 and 2031. This is evident in areas like the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, where there is substantial ongoing construction. Additionally, there is a shortage of qualified graduates, meaning demand for skilled professionals is high.

Q: Who is this program for?

A: This program is ideal for an aspiring manager in the construction industry. It’s open to those with a background in construction, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and other related fields. Individuals from unrelated fields who have project management experience can be considered, though they may need to take some leveling courses first.

Q: What sets Tarleton’s M.S. in Construction Science & Management apart from other programs?

A: There are several things that make our program unique. First, we offer a variety of scholarships, and our tuition is well below the state average. Students can complete the program in under two years. Additionally, our faculty have real-world industry experience, and we provide plenty of opportunities for one-on-one interaction through open office hours.

A: We have partnerships with over 30 companies on our industry council. We also host a career fair on our Stephenville campus every semester, helping students connect with potential employers.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share with prospective students?

A: There’s a real push within the construction industry to bridge the technology gap, especially as baby boomers retire and leave behind a wealth of industry knowledge. Our program is focused on equipping students with the technological skills and tools necessary to keep up with industry advancements and to lead the next wave of construction innovation.
