Welcome to your new journey at Tarleton State University! We’re excited to help you take the next steps toward success. To make your transition seamless, we’ve created a personalized checklist tailored just for our new students starting this spring. Your admissions team is here to support you every step of the way. Let’s get started!
We encourage you to take these next steps as soon as possible to ensure a seamless start!
Next steps for spring 2026 freshmen entering students:
- Claim your University ID (if you don’t remember your University ID, visit here)
- Download Microsoft Authenticator and Activate your Student Email
- Make an Advising Appointment to Register for Spring Courses– At this time you will discuss degree plans and register for spring classes. You can request an advising appointment here.
- Register for Texan Orientation– Spring 2026 dates coming soon!
- Apply for Financial Aid– If you want to apply for aid for Spring 2026, you will need to fill out the 2025-2026 FAFSA.
- Apply for Scholarships– Fill out the Tarleton State scholarship application for all your options when it comes to paying for college. You will need to fill out the 2025/2026 application for spring and fall scholarships.
- Apply for Housing– All incoming freshmen are required to live on campus. (This is not a required step if you are a Fort Worth freshman)
- Pick out your Meal Plan– Meal Plans are billed per semester and added to the tuition bill. (This is not a required step if you are a Fort Worth freshman)
- Get your Parking Pass– If you’ll be parking on campus you will want to be sure you have this!
- Am I TSI exempt? – Find out here.
- Submit proof of Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination – Required only if you are under 22 years old.
- Submit Final High School Transcript– Students must request their high school send their official transcript to us.
- Pay Tuition –Tuition is due 7 days before classes start, not at the time of registration.
- Check your Veteran/Dependent Status- Email veterans@tarleton.edu or call 254-968-1805.
Recommended Next Steps for Freshmen:
- Submit SAT/ACT Scores– Official SAT and ACT test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency.
- Visit Campus – Schedule your tour today!
- Download the Microsoft Office 365 suite free of charge. This will give you access to apps like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Keep your parents/family involved– Encourage your family to opt into the parent portal!
- Download the Tarleton app– Make sure you don’t miss a thing with our app!
