Moving into college for the first time can be both exciting and overwhelming. But it does not have to be overwhelming at all. We have compiled a list of some of the best tips and tricks to make the move-in process as smooth as possible for you.
- Make sure you label all your boxes correctly so the movers can most efficiently get them to your room. Label each box with your hall name for example legends, your room number, your name, and your phone number
- Bring snacks and water. Move-in day is a long process and you will want to stay fed and hydrated
- Let the Texan movers help you! Texan Movers are upperclassmen who have already experienced moving into the dorms. They are there to help unload your car and safely transfer all your belongings to your room
- Pack smart. When moving into your room, unpacking will be much more difficult if you do not know where items are. Make sure you pack like items with each others and label your boxes to make unpacking as efficient as possible.
- Make sure you arrive at your designated move-in time. Find move-in times in the move-in guide
- Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and good shoes as you will be moving a lot that day
- Take everything you can out of the packaging. Not only will it be easier to pack and save space but it will save you a lot of trips to the dumpster when you are unpacking
- Use bags not boxes. Bags such as these take up much less room, are easier to carry, and significantly reduce the hassle of moving. They are also easy to store and reuse when move-out comes around.
