Several departments play an important role in the onboarding of new faculty members. Academic Affairs and Human Resources work together to facilitate the hiring process, Human Resources leads institutional onboarding (benefits, university-required training, etc.), and the Center for Educational Excellence specifically assists new faculty with preparing for the academic nature of the role.

New Faculty Orientation

The Center for Educational Excellence collaborates with Academic Affairs and Human Resources to host New Faculty Orientation. This event is typically hosted the Friday before Fall courses begin and is intended for those joining Tarleton’s full-time faculty team for the upcoming year (including those promoted from adjunct roles) and new graduate teaching assistants.

New Faculty Training Academy

The New Faculty Training Academy takes place each year from September to May in an online Canvas Community. It is a three-pronged approach to faculty training that allows for a customized experience to meet the individual needs of our faculty whether new to teaching, new to Tarleton, or both. Participating in training and attending New Faculty Training Academy events allows new faculty members to earn points to win prizes at the conclusion of the academic year.
