This year Ms. Gallacher will be the instructor of the ANSC 1119 – General Animal Science Labs, in addition to ANSC 3408 – Reproductive Physiology Labs for the fall term and ANSC 4313 – Sheep and Goat Production during the spring term.

Kristie earned a B.S. in Animal Science in 2021 and an M.S. in Animal Science in 2023 from New Mexico State University with an emphasis in Reproductive Physiology for her master’s.

A fun fact about her is that she grew up on a Cow/Calf Operation in New Mexico.

Dr. Contreras-Correa will include Genetics, Physiology of Reproduction, and Anatomy and Physiology of Farm Animals.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico. she earned her B.S. in biology and M.S. in animal science at the University of Puerto Rico- Mayagüez. Completing her Ph.D. in Developmental programming of beef cattle and her Postdoctoral work in lactation physiology of heat-resistant dairy cattle at Mississippi State University.

She mentioned that her family and I are very excited to be here as her husband also started as an Assistant Professor at the Geosciences department. Hobbies include cooking, photography, and going for a walk. And a fun fact about her is that even though she is from an island, she does not like the beach.

Dr. Crissa Nugen’s teaching discipline is Horticulture.

Fun fact about Dr. Nugen is learning about beekeeping and will start her apiary in the spring.

Dr. Mauricio Erazo-Baradas’ teaching discipline is Horticulture, Plant Science, and Agronomy.

Dr. Erazo-Barradas earned his Ph.D. in Plant Science in 2016 from South Dakota State University. His M.S. in Agronomy/Plant Breeding in 2009 from Iowa State University and his M.S. in Seed Science in 2000. Instituto Tecnologico. Agropecuario No. 33. Roque, Guanajuato, Mexico. And his B.S. in Ingeniero Agrónomo en Sistemas de Producción Agricola in 1995 from the Instituto Tecnológico Agropecuario No. 18. Ursulo Galvan, Veracruz, Mexico.

Animal Science also welcomes Mr. James Cano as a Visiting Instructor of Meat Science.
