On Monday, October 30th, staff from the Texas Forest Service in Mineral Wells led a wildland firefighting field day at the Tarleton Agriculture Center as part of an online training course. Nine students from the Department of Wildlife & Natural Resources participated, receiving Basic Wildland Firefighter Type 2 (FTT2) certificates. Certification is often required to participate in prescribed fires, as well as other wildland fire operations including ignition, control, mop-up, suppression, and monitoring.
