Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources Places at TSSRM

Faculty and students from the Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources attended the annual meeting of the Texas Section Society for Range Management (TSSRM) meeting held in Bastrop from 18-20 October.  Two faculty and 10 students participated in this year’s meeting with students also competing in research project poster presentations, range plants identification contest, and the Undergraduate Range Management Exam (URME).  Sophomore Hannah Atkinson received awards for placing second and senior Hunter Jacobson placed third with their poster presentations.  Additionally, Natural Resource Ecology sophomore students Hannah Atkinson and sophomore Chloe Delahoussaye received recognition as outstanding range students.  This year’s focus of the TSSRM annual meeting was “Energy, Fire, and Water: Impacts on Texas Rangelands” and brought together industry leaders, academic institutions, and livestock producers all with the common goal of sustaining our vital rangelands.
