Equine Sales Prep & Marketing Class

Students from the Equine Sales Prep & Marketing class took their class horse projects to the Triangle Horse Sale held during the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) World Show in Oklahoma City, at the end of October. They did an outstanding job representing the horses, program, university, and themselves. The students put in countless hours working to get them ready and had them looking their best. The high seller of the group was Hip No. 19 TSU Hot N Cold who brought $11,500 and the horses averaged $6,750. Taking the horses to the sale allows the students to apply what they have learned in class, talk to prospective buyers, network with top industry professionals, see how the industry prepares and represents horses, and walk the horses through the sale ring. It also provides an opportunity to give our program and students more national visibility within the equine industry. After the sale, the students were able to experience some of the AQHA World Show and spend a little time at the horse races at Remington Park. To say they had a broad equine industry experience is an understatement!

The horses sold were raised here at Tarleton and are an extensive part of the practical hands-on production opportunity provided to the students who take equine courses. We are grateful to the industry partners who have generously donated breedings and services to some of the best in the industry. Without their support, these opportunities would not be possible. A very big THANK YOU to Dr. Charlie Buchannan, Brazos Valley Stallion Station, LPTriple C- Colgrove Performance HorsesWolf Livestock, and Don & Kathy Boone for their support of our program!!!
