Tarleton COANR Attends Annual Meeting of the Texas Bison Association

The Texas Bison Association held their 2023 annual meeting June 9-10 in Waco, Texas. Tarleton’s Department of Wildlife and Natural Resources attended from June 9-10 to support meeting the TBA’s goal of ‘Preserving the Legend’ by the advocacy of Texas bison through conservation, leadership, education and public awareness for bison production, the industry, and the species. Faculty lecturer David Johnston, graduate research assistant Bryan Dunn, Natural Resource Ecology undergraduates Chloe Delahoussaye and Hannah Atkinson, and Wildlife undergraduate Liliana Navar provided talks and information on the importance of and management of native prairies for livestock production, rotational grazing, and grass species identification. The annual meeting of the Texas Bison Association afforded Tarleton students with hands-on learning through interaction with landowners and bison producers further preparing them for future careers within wildlife and agricultural job fields.
