Dr. Don Beach Crystal Apple Society
In 2012, the College of Education at Tarleton State University established a new award to honor educators who have made a positive impact on the lives of students. We all can think of special educators who made a difference in our lives and the lives of others, and the Crystal Apple Society is the perfect opportunity to honor these dedicated individuals. Those wishing to honor an educator make a minimum donation of $500; this gift, which is an important source of funding for student scholarships, underwrites a reception for the honoree and guest, as well as the nominee and guest. A special gift will be presented to the educator at the celebration event. Light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Dr. Don Beach (1946-2023) began his teaching career as a high school science teacher and served on the faculty at UT Arlington before joining Tarleton State University in 1981 as Dean of the School of Education and Fine Arts. Dr. Beach served Tarleton in this role and later as professor of educational leadership for 42 years. The recipient of a variety of awards and honors for educational excellence, Dr. Beach helped establish the Tarleton Crystal Apple Society and was honored with a Crystal Apple himself in 2015.
