Tarleton State University is required to have an active and on-going records management program in compliance with federal and state laws and The Texas A&M University System Regulation 61.99.01, Retention of State Records. The manager of university compliance serves as the university’s records officer (RO) designated to manage the retention and disposition of state records at Tarleton under the direction of the university compliance officer. See Tarleton Standard Administrative Procedure 61.99.01.T0.01, Records Management, or contact the RO for more information about university records management requirements and program guidelines. Records training opportunities are available to Tarleton employees upon request to the RO.
State records can be found in any recorded medium, in a variety of forms such as paper document, electronic files, documents or communications, microfilm, or web applications/database systems (e.g., Banner, Canvas, AggieBuy, Concur, etc.).
Information that is written, produced, collected, assembled, or maintained in connection with the transaction of Tarleton’s official business or by an officer or employee of Tarleton in the individual’s official capacity and the information pertains to official business of the body is considered state records.
