Every other year, the College of Science and Mathematics honors exceptional alumni, retired faculty, and supporters via the Bi-Annual Awards Program. The alumni are the leaders in scientific fields and research. The awarded alumni serve as an inspiration to our current students and as a testament to the value of our faculty. In addition, we recognized retired faculty that continue to make a significant impact on the students and programs in the College of Science and Mathematics.
College of Science and Mathematics Alumni of the Year Award
The Alumni of the Year recipients must be graduates of Tarleton State University College of Science and Mathematics who have outstanding records of distinguished career accomplishments, and/or have exhibited dedication, commitment, and service to the College and/or their home department.
College of Science and Mathematics Professional Achievement Award
Every other year the College of Science and Mathematics honors outstanding alumni who have demonstrated remarkable professional achievement and dedication to their community and the University. Awards are given to an alumnus/alumna of the College with an outstanding record of career accomplishments, is distinguished in their profession, demonstrates a continuing interest in the life of Tarleton State University and the College of Science and Mathematics, and takes pride in their alma mater.
College of Science and Mathematics Outstanding Philanthropist Award
The Outstanding Philanthropist Award honors an individual, family, association, corporation or foundation with a record of direct financial support or gifts in kind to the College. Due special consideration is those whose generosity has encouraged others in their philanthropy.
College of Science and Mathematics Retired Faculty Award
The Retired Faculty Award recognizes those former COSM colleagues that have continued to contribute their time, talent, or treasure in support of Tarleton State University, the College of Science and Mathematics, and our students.
College of Science and Mathematics Young Alumni Award
The Young Alumni Award recipients must be graduates of Tarleton State University College of Science and Mathematics who are not more than 15 years past graduation. The award recognizes alumni who have outstanding records of distinguished career accomplishments, and/or have exhibited dedication, commitment, and service to the College and/or their home department. One award will be given for each COSM department.
College of Science and Mathematics Outstanding Alumni Award
The Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes one per academic department every other year for sustained, distinguished accomplishments and contributions to society that bring honor to the award recipient, his/her home department, and to the College.
Application Details
Nominees for the award must have distinguished themselves through contributions in one or more of the following: to a profession, leadership roles, public service, creative endeavors, or other accomplishments.

Preferred Qualifications for Nomination
- Exhibit their support of the college or unit within through their commitment of time, talent, or treasure.
- Preferably has some connection to the university through research, alumni activities, foundation, or other program.
- Would not foster controversies that would divide Tarleton State University.
- An individual cannot receive the same award from the college or its units in any five-year period.
