Overview

Tarleton offers many different opportunities to sing, including four outstanding ensembles, applied voice instruction with one of our excellent voice faculty members, or stage productions including the Opera Workshop and our yearly musical theater show.

Community Performances

Members of the University Singers, Chamber Choir, and Cross Timbers Civic Chorale have opportunities to perform with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

Program Objective

  • Provide students with a level of personal attention in the classroom that is hard to come by when attending a large university
  • Offer students the opportunity to work in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility that will give them insight as to how professional performers operate.

Performance Opportunities

Tarleton’s various choral ensembles are open to all, regardless of your major! Students can schedule auditions to join the:

  1. Chamber Choir
  2. Select Women’s Ensemble
  3. Texan Gentleman
  4. University Singers
  5. An internship in a related area under Horticulture

The audition consists of one solo of your choosing, a brief interview with the voice faculty, and exercises to assess your musicianship.

Performance Spaces

The Vocal Studies program is part of the Department of Fine Arts, housed in the elegant Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center, one of the top performance venues among colleges and universities in the Southwest. This multi-purpose fine arts complex contains three theatres:

  1. a 243-seat recital hall
  2. an 805-seat auditorium
  3. and the workshop theatre

Student Organizations

Our students have many opportunities to join different organizations that will enable them to interact with like-minded peers. These groups participate in music program events, as well as service projects throughout the year. Some of these organizations include:
