Building a Successful Future
Your child’s life on campus can be enriching in many ways, from career and leadership opportunities to cultural expansion. We provide you with the means to transition your child to a student at Tarleton State University. Below are services your child can benefit from as a student at Tarleton.
Through membership in the Texan Community your student will discover a sense of self, explore unique giftedness, and cultivate self-awareness. Your student will discover and develop a sense of and appreciation for others by developing an ability to flourish in a group.
The First Year Experience is comprised of several programs designed to help your child make a smooth transition and achieve these personal goals.
As the first step in helping you make the transition into the university community, every incoming freshman is required to attend one of the sessions of Texan Orientation. They will meet with an academic advisor, register for fall classes, learn about university life, and become familiar with the many resources available at Tarleton
A permanent ID Card is issued to incoming students to be used for their entire enrollment at Tarleton. This card will give the students access to their residence halls, meal plans, athletic and fine arts events, and other activities.
A Texan Bucks account is set up for each student automatically upon enrollment. Texan bucks may be used in the Dining Hall, Food Court, Campus Store, Health Center, Police Department, laundry machines in residence halls, copy machines, and soda machines on campus. More than 25 off-campus merchants in Stephenville also accept Texan Bucks. Deposits can be made online or in the Texan Card office. There are several deposit stations around the campus and access for parents to deposit money online. For more information go to the Texan Card website.
