Tarleton State University offers several programs that can help you reach your goal of teaching college level or dual credit courses. Our programs offer personal advising from start to finish and are available online and/or at our Fort Worth campus. Tarleton faculty hold Ph.D.s from major universities and work to provide an interactive and demanding course of study.

At this time, we offer graduate credit online the following high-demand, college level and dual credit subject areas:

English

Experience the freedom of completely online courses in English, or mix online courses with face-to-face selections. The program offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary examination of traditional literary studies with rhetorical studies to provide solid training for the demands of the college classroom in both composition and literature. Degree Option

For those seeking a master’s degree, we offer a 36-hour degree with thesis and non-thesis tracks. This degree includes at least 18 graduate hours in English, which is require to teach dual credit in that subject area. Coursework available includes American literature, British literature, rhetoric and composition, linguistics, professional writing and much more.

Non-Degree Option

For those already holding a master’s degree, we offer a simplified path to earn the 18 graduate hours in English require to teach college level or dual credit in English. This option allows for a simplified application process through enrollment as a non-degree seeking student.

Communications

This degree is perfect for professionals who desire to expand their knowledge of current trends related to computer-mediated communication and social media. The program offers a combination of online and face-to-face courses at our Fort Worth campus. View more on the M.A. in Communication Studies program.

Degree Option

For those seeking a master’s degree, we offer a 30-hour program including at least 18 graduate hours in Communications, which is needed to be eligible to teach dual credit. Coursework will include communication ethics, theory and research, applied social media, new communication technology and much more. This program is offered in a flexible class format for working professionals, including online classes and some face-to-face courses at the Fort Worth campus.

Non-Degree Option

For those already holding a master’s degree, we offer a simplified path to earn the 18 graduate hours in Communications require to teach college level or dual credit in communications or speech. This option allows for a simplified application process through enrollment as a non-degree seeking student.
