Embodying the spirit of Tarleton State, the Texan Rider statue was unveiled in front of Memorial Stadium prior to the 2024 football season opener. The 3,500-pound, 1.5-life-sized bronze statue was styled by sculptor Mike Tabor, a distinguished Tarleton alumnus. The statue is dedicated to David Mayfield’s -M- Family Ranch to honor his life of ranching, love of the land and interest in rodeo sports.
