STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University and the Texan Battalion Army ROTC program will host the Ranger Challenge Competition for Task Force Tomahawk on Oct. 22-23.
Called the varsity sport of Army ROTC, the Ranger Challenge focuses on basic and advanced soldier skills. Teams participate in multiple rigorous events from land navigation to marksmanship.
Student-cadets from 11 universities will compete over the two days on a non-tactical course. The mission is to challenge their mental and physical toughness and to develop leadership while fostering teamwork and esprit de corps.
Task Force Tomahawk consists of Baylor University, Prairie View A&M University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University-Central Texas, UT Arlington and Texas Christian University, and the University of Houston, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, University of North Texas.
