STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University professor Dr. Eric Morrow has been invited to join the steering committee of the American Democracy Project, an initiative of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
The program seeks to create an intellectual and experiential understanding of civic engagement for undergraduates enrolled at institutions that are members of AASCU. The goal of the project is to produce graduates who understand and are committed to engaging in meaningful actions as citizens in a democracy.
Morrow, the interim dean of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, is an associate professor in the Department of Government, Legal Studies and Philosophy.
Since coming to Tarleton in 2008, he has been instrumental in the expansion of the civic engagement emphasis through his teaching, as a faculty fellow, as a department head and now as interim dean. ADP related programs at Tarleton currently involve more than 3,500 students per year and have had significant impacts on voting and voter registration rates, as well as academic achievement and retention.
Tarleton, founding member of The Texas A&M University System, provides a student-focused, value-driven education marked by academic innovation and a dedication to transform today’s scholars into tomorrow’s leaders.
