STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Submissions for Tarleton State University’s Anthology: A student Forum for Prose, Poetry and Visual Arts, are being accepted until Monday, Feb. 18.
All submissions are eligible for one of three $100 Editors’ Choice Awards and the $500 William B. Martin Award for Writing Excellence.
Dr. Marilyn Robitaille, associate professor of English and director of study abroad and global exchange, and Benedda Konvicka started the journal 25 years ago with founding student editors Jimmy Hood and Chris Edwards. Robitaille and Konvicka continue to co-edit the project.
New student staff in charge of the landmark 25thedition are English majors Hailey Garner, Alexis Richmond, Marissa Burns, Caitlyn Oxford and Nicholas Ramirez.
Alexis, a junior from Kopperl, graduated from Whitney High School in 2016. Inspired by her mother, Alexis’ long-time love of reading created her desire to pursue an English degree.
Hailey is a senior with a minor in business from Riesel. She is a Presidential Honors student and a member of Texans for Christ. Her work was previously published in Anthology.
Caitlyn, from Granbury, is a senior with a minor in criminal justice and emphasis in technical writing. She was published in Anthology in 2017. She plans to graduate in December to pursue a career as a writer.
Marissa, senior with a minor in communications expects to graduate in December. In her spare time she pursues her love of photography, traveling across the state capturing the beauty in ordinary things. The Stephenville native’s award-winning photography was previously published in Anthology.
Nicholas is an English major with an emphasis in technical writing. After graduation, he plans to enroll in the master’s program in technical communication and rhetoric in the Department of English and Languages at Tarleton. After he completes his education, he plans to teach abroad.
Submissions of prose, poetry, photographs, sculpture, musical scores, scripts and all graphical
arts for the spring 2019 edition of the journal should be made at www.tarleton.edu/anthology
