STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The annual Tarleton State University fall percussion ensemble concert, set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 in the auditorium of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center on the Stephenville campus, offers something for everyone.

The concert features a variety of works ranging from tropical music by Jimmy Buffett to contemporary theatrical works.

Tickets are $5 or free with a Tarleton ID. The box office opens one hour before the beginning of the concert, and all seating is general admission.

The group will perform the first work ever written for percussion ensemble from Alexander Tcherepnin’s Symphony No. 1 as well as contemporary masterworks by Cangelosi, Ford and others.

Dr. Benjamin Charles, who directs the percussion ensemble, performs “Uneven Souls” by Nebojsa Zikovic, an epic 15-minute solo for marimba and percussion trio, with guests from the Tarleton choral program under the direction of Dr. Troy Robertson.

The Tarleton steel band will perform Buster Poindexter’s “Hot Hot Hot,” Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville” and the traditional Jamaican folk song “Day-O.”
