STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Enjoy free admission to Tarleton’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas on Saturday, Sept. 22, as part of Smithsonian magazine Museum Day.

Museum Day celebrates the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day.

This year’s Museum Day theme is Women Making History, and the Gordon Center will celebrate contributions women made throughout Thurber’s history. The museum also will offer hands-on activities and crafts for children with stations about science, history and art.

The W.K. Gordon Center, a Tarleton museum and research facility located in the historic ghost town of Thurber, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
