STEPHENVILLE, Texas —A pair of former Tarleton State University football players will make their radio debuts this fall on the Tarleton Sports Network.

Kyle Masters is the new color analyst alongside TSN veteran Byron Anderson in the radio booth. Savion Washington will patrol the sideline as an analyst. JP Stingley will return as studio host during pregame, postgame and halftime.

Masters, a former Texans tight end, knows the territory. He played for current head coach Todd Whitten from 2000-2004.

A native of Wheeler, Texas, Masters came to Tarleton as part of the 2000 recruiting class in Whitten’s return to the university. He proceeded to have an All-America career with 76 receptions for 1,087 yards and seven touchdowns while helping Tarleton to its first two NCAA playoff appearances.

As a freshman in 2001, he caught the second NCAA playoff touchdown pass in program history — a three-yard toss from Steve Kelly just before halftime against Chadron State.

Two years later, Masters had his All-America season, snaring 20 passes for 259 yards and a pair of touchdowns from the tight end position. He also was a four-time All-Lone Star Conference selection, including back-to-back first-team honors in 2003 and 2004, and was named LSC Freshman of the Year in 2001.

Washington came to Tarleton in 2011 as a running back from North Garland (Texas) High School. After one year as a redshirt, he found his way into nine games as a freshman in 2012 and ran for 32 yards.

He transitioned to defense prior to the 2013 season and went on to make 50 career tackles, including 2.5 behind the line of scrimmage. As part of the defense in 2013, he was on Tarleton’s most recent LSC championship squad.

He spent the last two seasons behind the scenes working in the Athletic Communications office.

The Tarleton Sports Network presented by the North Texas Ford Dealers is the home of Tarleton Athletics and can be heard at 90.5 FM in Stephenville on game days and online at www.tarletonsports.com/listenlive. The season kicks off Thursday night, Aug. 30, with pregame beginning at 6:30.
