STEPHENVILLE, Texas—It’s time for Tarleton students to choose teams and sign up for the university’s first-ever Academic Quadrathlon, planned for Dec. 1 and 2.
The event, a competition sponsored by the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS), is designed to evaluate the knowledge and proficiency of undergraduate students.
The winning team, the first in Tarleton history, will represent the university at the Southern Section regional competition on the Stephenville campus in February.
Local champions from the region, including teams from Auburn, Louisiana State, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M universities, will go toe-to-toe with Tarleton’s winning team to determine who represents the Southern Section at the ASAS Annual Meetings in Vancouver in July.
The Academic Quadrathlon originated around 1978 by Dr. Robert Kauffman at the University of Wisconsin. The ASAS has hosted more than 15,000 students through local, regional and national competitions. It consists of a quiz bowl, written examination, laboratory practicum and oral presentations.
Students interested in competing should form diverse, four-person teams and sign up outside Room 309A in the Autry Building. Sign-ups will be active through Monday, November 27.
