Conference on Study of Korea and the Korean War To Be Held at Tarleton State Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas — Tarleton State University’s Fort Worth campus will host a conference on the Study of Korea and the Korean War, an immersive one-day workshop for educators interested in interdisciplinary tools and resources, Feb. 17.

The College of Education’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Tarleton State’s Center for Educational Excellence, the Korean War Legacy Foundation, World History Digital Education Foundation, and the Law-Related Education Department are sponsoring this continuing education opportunity.

“As Tarleton celebrates 125 Years of Excellence, we’re thrilled to present this professional learning opportunity for our preservice teachers as we strive to prepare educators who are ready to lead and succeed from day one” said Dr. Eliel Hinojosa Jr., Assistant Professor and event coordinator. “Additionally, we aim for this event to provide ongoing, high-quality professional development for social studies teachers in our region.”

The conference will feature insights into the American home front with workshops on art, literature and North Korean propaganda, along with a veteran interview. There will also be access to a comprehensive interview archive to support engaging lessons on the significance of Korea and the impact of the Korean War.

Registration is free for teachers, preservice teachers, instructional coaches, curriculum supervisors and administrators. Lunch will be provided.
