Deadline nears for 2019 Entrepreneurs of Erath business plan competition

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The clock is ticking for participants to enter the 2019 Entrepreneurs of Erath (EoErath) Business Plan Competition sponsored by Tarleton State University’s College of Business Administration and Small Business Development Center.

The top six finalists will split some $20,000 in cash and professional services worth more than $40,000.

The contest is open to new or expanding businesses in Erath County less than a year old with a net revenue of less than $100,000. Entrepreneurs must commit to remain in Erath County for two years and expect to create at least three new jobs.

The competition consists of three rounds: the executive summary, business plan and pitch before judges.

Applications and executive summaries — a snapshot of the business — are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Training to write a business plan takes place from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 14 and Feb. 21 in Room 172 of the College of Business. Contestants can attend one or both.

Final plans are due March 8 and should provide a detailed look at the company, including overview, products or services provided, target market, value to Erath County and financial projections.

Pitch presentations to judges will be on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6,and winners will be announced at a luncheon on April 12 at Tarleton.
