FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, October 11, 2016
STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University basketball officially gets under way Friday, Oct. 14, when the Texan and TexAnn hoop squads take the court in Wisdom Gym for Midnight Madness. Doors open at 11:15 p.m., and the first 300 fans will receive a T-shirt courtesy of Tarleton Athletics.
This marks the 23rd year for the event, which started in 1994 when Tarleton became an NCAA program. The Tarleton cheerleaders, Texan Stars and Foul Play basketball band are set to perform before the teams take the court. Finalists from Wednesday’s inaugural charity Knock Out Basketball Tournament will compete in the championship round of the tournament.
The TexAnn women’s basketball team takes the court when the clock strikes midnight with team performances and a light scrimmage, followed with a dunking exhibition and brief scrimmage by the Texan men’s team.
Fans can enjoy a live broadcast of the event, sponsored by North Texas Ford Dealers, on the Tarleton Sports Network. The Voice of the Texans, Byron Anderson, will have the call.
