STEPHENVILLE, Texas — In partnership with McLennan Community College, Tarleton State University’s Waco campus will begin offering six new degree programs beginning this fall.

To meet the workforce needs of the region, the new degrees from the Mayfield College of Engineering and the School of Kinesiology include:

— Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

— Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

— Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity

— Bachelor of Applied Science in Kinesiology

— Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology

— Bachelor of Science in Sport Management

The availability of these areas of study in Waco will allow students to complete an affordable four-year baccalaureate degree nearby rather than needing to relocate to pursue their academic aspirations in engineering, cybersecurity or kinesiology.

“With first- and second-year courses launching at our Fort Worth campus starting this fall, we are also excited to expand and prioritize upper-level academic opportunities at Tarleton State Waco,” said Dr. Rachael Capua, Dean of Tarleton State Fort Worth and Vice President for External Operations who oversees the university’s outreach locations, including online. “We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with MCC with the primary hope of serving and supporting Waco and its surrounding communities well.”

Tarleton State Waco, through approximately 30 academic programs, serves nearly 1,000 students in undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs at the MCC’s University Center, a two-decade partnership between the two institutions.

“This partnership with MCC exemplifies our dedication to meeting students where they are,” said Dr. Diane Stearns, Tarleton State Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. “These new academic options represent our long-standing commitment to providing affordable, accessible and innovative pathways to ensure Tarleton State Texans thrive in their chosen fields.”

Starting this fall, Tarleton State will simultaneously launch a dual admission program giving eligible first-time McLennan Community College students who plan to complete their associate degree at MCC and then transfer to Tarleton State to earn a bachelor’s degree locked in tuition, advising supports, and personalized resources.

Class registration for the fall is now available. For more information about Tarleton State Waco or the MCC-to-Tarleton dual admission pathway, visit https://www.tarleton.edu/waco/ or call 254-299-8322.
