STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Registration is open for Tarleton State University’s hands-on, high-tech Engineering Summer Camp set June 12-16 on the Stephenville campus. Designed for students entering sixth through ninth grades, the weeklong learning adventure promotes fun with science, technology, engineering and math.

Campers meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in Tarleton’s Engineering Building. Cost is $50 per student.

Participants explore the many roles engineers play in society and learn how to apply math, physics and chemistry to solve engineering problems. Students are encouraged to innovate, problem solve and design their own projects, such as bridges, towers, cars, rockets and robots.

Supported by a grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the camp is sponsored by Tarleton’s College of Science and Technology and its Department of Engineering and Computer Science. Engineering and mathematics faculty and students will lead the camp, which culminates with a bridge building and stress test competition.

Space is limited. For more information or to register, contact Dr. Denise Martinez at 254-968-9863 or email dmartinez@tarleton.edu. Additional information is available at https://www.facebook.com/tarletonengineeringcamp/ or http://faculty.tarleton.edu/dmartinez/summercamps.html.
