STEPHENVILLE, Texas—On Tuesday, March 21, a delegation of students, faculty, staff and administrators will celebrate Tarleton State University Day at the Capitol in Austin.

Led by President F. Dominic Dottavio, the Tarleton delegation will meet with legislators and their staff members to increase public and legislative support for the university during the 85th Legislative Session.

Tarleton will have delegations, including two buses with approximately 100 students, faculty and staff, departing from its main campus in Stephenville and its Fort Worth Southwest Metroplex Center early Tuesday.

At 10 a.m., the Tarleton delegation will attend the Texas House of Representatives’ session when Rep. J.D. Sheffield (Dist. 59) is expected to recognize the university with the reading of House Resolution 884 proclaiming Tarleton State University Day at the State Capitol.

The Texas Senate, along with Sen. Craig Estes (Dist. 30), also will recognize the Tarleton delegation during a senate session at 11 a.m. with the reading of Senate Resolution No. 426.

Following lunch, students, faculty and staff will participate in legislative office visits throughout the Capitol complex to provide information on key points in support of higher education and Tarleton, including the university’s request for $15 million in capital funding to replace buildings demolished or damaged at the Tarleton Agricultural Complex by last year’s tornado.
